The Orthodox Anglican Society of St. Francis was formed in June 2009 at the request of several lay and ordained members of the Orthodox Anglican Communion, who expressed the desire to follow our Lord Jesus Christ by the example and teachings of St. Francis of Assisi. The Most Revd Dr Scott McLaughlin, Primate of the Communion, authorized the Society’s establishment and become its Episcopal Protector (as well as a Friar in the Society).
In November 2009, Archbishop McLaughlin named Fr Stephen Agosto, as the Minister General for the Society. Fr Stephen has years of experience as a Franciscan Friar, and is well qualified to lead this new expression of Franciscan life in the Church.
